Biggest Full Moon of the Year Tonight

December 12, 2008

I’m a huge nut when it comes to astronomy.  I love love loooooove it.  Tonight the moon is at perigee (opposite is apogee) which means it will be the closest it can possibly be to the Earth.  Check it out after the sun goes down.  It’ll be the closest then and it’ll be brightest around midnight.  I suppose that if people get crazier during the full moon, will this be the time they’re the craziest?  Also, I’m going to a holiday vodka party where we’ll be sampling various types of vodka.  I have no clue what this has to do with the holidays but bring on the vodka and crazies!

  1. Actually, this day is the Chinese Moon Festival where everyone sits outside to look at the moon white drinking tea and eating special moon cake. You make a wish on the moon and it will come true. I’m surprised it’s in December as it’s always in October in the Chinese calendar. Hmm.

  2. I saw it…. it was a beautiful site.
