The Opening Day of the Texas State Fair has to be one of my favorite days of the year (probably second favorite day). There’s a competition that revolves around decorating a shoe. One friend turned a tennis shoe into a flower and another is using a pump for a Palin theme (there’s a tanned Presidential Barbie you can buy – oddly enough, Barbies don’t seem to wear glasses). Mine is Wall-E.
He’s made almost purely out of cardboard and duct tape. The shoe gets judged in a few hours and for the rest of the day, I’m hitting up the food stands and watching pigs race! It’s going to be a fantastic day.
